The Goals of TAHMA

TAHMA serves the Triangle by providing hoteliers and other industry members a regular forum at which to meet and discuss industry issues--issues that affect the individual counties (Wake, Durham and Orange) as well as the Triangle Area as a region.

Our purpose is to:

  • Promote the interests of the lodging industry in the Triangle area
  • Provide industry information to its members for use and discussion
  • Maintain cooperative and productive relationships between the industry and the area Convention and Visitors' bureaus.

TAHMA Members, Supporters and Friends:

Over the last two weeks we have seen an unprecedented disruption in the Triangle Area hospitality industry. Efforts are still underway to adjust to changing government mandates and steps designed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We can all do our part to help keep each other safe and cared for until our industry begins its recovery later this year. Here are some items I want to bring to your attention:

  • The NCRLA has created a NC Restaurant Workers Relief Fund which is designed to provide short-term financial assistance to displaced hospitality workers in the state. If your organization is capable of making a donation to this fund, it will go a long way toward helping hospitality workers with immediate needs like rent, groceries and medicine until other support has a chance to kick in. Also please spread the word to those you know who may have been laid off to let them know they can apply for aid. Here is the link to make a donation or apply for aid: https://www.ncrestaurantrelief.com/
  • As you know, we were originally scheduled to hold our spring golf event next Monday. In the interests of public health, we cancelled this event and will now focus our scholarship fundraising activities on our fall tournament. We will resume or planning events for that event later in the year.
  • Finally, our April luncheon was to be hosted by Wake Tech Hospitality Management Program. Wake Tech will not be able to host the luncheon in April. We are working on offering a virtual program during the same time and date (Tuesday, April 21 at 12:00 Noon). Please be on the lookout for more information as soon as it becomes available.

We are all part of the TAHMA family, and we will stand together through this crisis. Please contact TAHMA headquarters at info@tahma.org to share information or let us know how we can help.

In hospitality,
Sam Vadgama, President
Triangle Area Hotel Motel Association
